“Sabka Bazar” is next, “Subhiksha”

If we look back the last few years, we all were seeing things improving, and everything was happening good. This Good feeling was too sweet and before you knew the economy became Diabetic.

Today the Economics requiring insulin injection now and then. The Sages are recommending herbs like “Neem” and “Mae-thee” all having bitter taste. Even in the USA Obama says that tough measure will be needed for the economy to get back on rail.

If we look at the Stores like “Subhiksha” and “Sabka Bazar” and Reliance and other such stores. Times has come for us to say Goodbye to “Subhiksha” and the next going in its footprints is “Sabka Bazar”

About Three years back in one of the Franchisee forum I had a chance to speak to one of the senior managers of the “Subhiksha” chains and told him in detail of the future closer of the stores and quoted him the blunder they were making. (Mangoes was the example I had taken at that time, and how they were going to loose money on it).

There are lot of things which look good on paper/presentations, and get one lot of laurels and money raise after it, but it is another thing when it comes to achieving it. What the new breed of MBA’s are doing is give Great presentations, but if you tell them to differentiate between “Aj-wa-in” or “Jee-ra” , and if you topped the query with how much is used in a family of four per month, they will know nothing.

Now these guys are telling what to store and in what quantity will be sold in a store per month, not only this they are not infusing confidence in their staff, as they forget the basic thing that if you have to sell you have to have a confident, educated Salesman to deliver.

If you fail to generate the confidence of the store sales persons, this lack of confidence shows and the customer also starts to loose the confidence on the store.

Now if you are selling something different, you can do without it, but if you are also selling what others are selling, you will decay and loose soon. Bigger the organization the slower the process of decay comes to be noticed. Why I say decay is because “Sabka Bazar people if they are smart enough must have noticed that most of things that they have in the stores are reaching date of expiry, and if they are starting to blame the Store Mangers it is simple the big fish are eating the small fish, the senior mangers who had bought the goods with close expiry dates have already left the organization or are looking for a change.

Some of the fresh MBA’s might have suggested to make deduction from the staff, which will make good ones to leave for it is the truthful and the hard-workers which leave an organization first because they always have alternatives. (This I shall take up in another Blog Article)
I could have given all the reasons for the closer of “Sabka Bazar” but this is not the place or time to spill the beans, may be later, but both these organizations are great for study for future MBA’s.

Like the Brand “CHARMS” which was created and killed by ITC a great study material.
